Elon Musk touts ketamine use as benefit for Tesla investors

In a recent interview with former CNN host Don Lemon, Tesla CEO Elon Musk defended his prescription use of ketamine, a drug he says helps alleviate a "negative chemical mind state." Musk, known for his often erratic behavior, explained that he has a prescription for the drug from a doctor and uses it once every other week. He emphasized that he is "almost always" sober during his late-night posting sessions on his social media platform, X, but did not specify whether he was referring to ketamine or another substance.

During the hour-long interview, Musk also discussed his belief that his depression is genetic and that his use of ketamine does not impact his ability to lead Tesla effectively. He pointed to Tesla's value as a publicly held company as evidence that his medication use has not hindered his performance. Despite facing scrutiny over his alleged drug use, Musk remains confident in his ability to execute and create value for investors.

The conversation between Musk and Lemon also touched on X's advertising business, which has suffered since Musk acquired the company. Musk expressed optimism about the future of the platform, noting that most advertisers have returned and that advertising and subscription revenue are rising rapidly. However, Musk made it clear that he is unwilling to censor the entire platform to appease advertisers who have left due to concerns about hateful and controversial content.

The interview ended on a contentious note, with Musk growing increasingly frustrated with Lemon's questions about X's free speech policies and the loss of advertisers. Musk abruptly canceled X's contract with Lemon shortly after the interview was posted, ending a planned deal for Lemon to post his new streaming show on the platform. Despite the tension between the two men, Musk remains steadfast in his belief that his use of ketamine and his leadership of Tesla are not hindered by his medication.
