Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg visited South Korea for the first time in about 10 years as part of his three-nation Asian tour, aiming to discuss partnerships with tech powerhouses and strengthen relations with business and government leaders in the region. During his visit to South Korea, Zuckerberg met with LG Electronics CEO William Cho to discuss cooperation on extended reality (XR) devices. LG expressed a keen interest in Meta's advanced technology demonstrations, particularly focusing on Meta's large language models and potential on-device AI integration.

LG announced that they are ramping up their strategic collaboration with Meta to expedite their XR ventures, which include augmented reality, virtual reality, mixed reality, and other related technologies. Zuckerberg also met with Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and is scheduled to meet South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol on Thursday. Technology analysts believe that Meta could potentially introduce their XR technology to a worldwide customer base through partnerships with global consumer electronics makers like LG.

In Japan, Zuckerberg met with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to discuss AI and the future of technology. He also enjoyed some leisure activities with his family, including skiing and visiting a McDonald's outlet. In India, Zuckerberg will attend a wedding ceremony for the son of billionaire Mukesh Ambani, head of Reliance Industries. Overall, Zuckerberg's tour in Asia highlights the importance of cooperation with top-level tech companies like Samsung and LG outside the United States, as well as the potential for expanding Meta's global reach through strategic partnerships.
