Millions of people across North America are eagerly anticipating the total solar eclipse set to take place on Monday, but for those who may not be in the path of totality or are facing cloudy skies, there are still ways to catch the celestial event. One option is to watch the eclipse online, with NASA offering several hours of live streaming starting at 1 p.m. EDT from various cities along the totality path. The space agency will provide telescope views of the sun and feature appearances by scientists and astronauts. Additionally, small rockets will be launched from Wallops Island, Virginia, carrying science instruments into the ionosphere.

The Associated Press will also be hosting a live show from the path of totality, with journalists reporting from watch parties and festivities along the route. The livestream will begin at 10 a.m. EDT with views from Mazatlan, Mexico, and other locations, with commentary and interviews running from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. EDT. The Exploratorium museum will showcase live telescope images of the sun from Junction, Texas, and Torre??n, Mexico, while the University of Maine will launch high-altitude balloons in an experiment livestreamed from the stratosphere.

For those looking for more telescope feeds, Time and Date will provide views of the sun from different sources, and Slooh will broadcast from Texas and have partner telescopes along the path. With these online options, even those unable to witness the eclipse in person can still experience the wonder of this rare celestial event.
